A Cold Day and High Winds Couldn’t Stop this Session

Their Portrait Session at Our Studio
Carmen and Grant are expecting a little one, so they came into the studio for a fun maternity session. They are going to leave the gender a surprise until January 13th.
We started off with Carmen in one of our signature poses. We had her lay on the reflective floor against a dark backdrop. When the baby comes we will add the little newborn into the reflection. The shot turned out beautifully. Even though this particular shot takes awhile to set up, we got the lighting perfect, and the images are really quite stunning.
From there we rolled onto the rest of the shoot. We took some moodier shots against the dark blue backdrop, at first of only Carmen, before adding Grant in beside her. We got a few of him listening to her baby bump before we changed out the background.
When we changed to the white vinyl backdrop, it was also time for a wardrobe change. Carmen got into a white button up so she could show off the bump. She brought a box of Timbits for the crew, and we took some fun shots of her snacking on the little donuts as if she had a craving for them.
After the white backdrop, we did some spot lit shots of just her belly and hands. We got Grant in there as well, and it made for a touching family photo.
Because Carmen is one of our photographers, we were able to play around with the lighting and experiment a little more. The resulting images are absolutely beautiful.
We then headed outside into the snow. Carmen wanted a few outdoor shots, and we got to them as quick as we could because it was incredibly windy outside. The wind whipped at her dress and gave us some really gorgeous shots. We ended the shoot with a fun little surprise from Grant!
Soon Carmen and Grant will be back for their newborn session, and we are all looking forward to it!
