Early Friday morning the family all gathered at the Maxwell family home in Springbank, just outside the Calgary city limits. It has been almost almost 5 years since the whole family has been together and it would mark the first time many of the grandkids met each other. With all of that their parents Don and Theresa were celebrating 50 years of marriage. A perfect time to capture the fun and playful camaraderie that each of their family members have with each other, something that was quickly adopted by the grandchildren.
Hiding from the Heat Wave
We met the Okishita family at their home in Heritage Point and immediately made the decision to do the first half of their family session at their home. This was due to the staggering 30+ heat that we were experiencing that day. Our shot was to photograph their son who had just turned one and after we were finished at their home we made our way to a near by green space to round out the photos.
We have now had the pleasure of providing the Bauer family with their annual family photos out in Okotoks for five years. Every year we take them out to a tree just south of Calgary where we photographed them for their Engagement session. A tradition started five years ago now has a photo filled with a son and a daughter, with their mom and dad.

Lined with pink rosettes and surrounded by balloons Reagan was ready to go and she didn’t waste any time. Almost immediately dipping in her finger to sample her devious cake. She made short work of the cake quickly ensure her and her mom were covered in icing. Even the balloons weren’t safe as a few of the received a light coating of icing. Ten minutes later the cake looked like a deflated balloon as Reagan had mashed every part of the cake and then let mom know it was time to head home.

We meet with Justine, Time and little Logan at the Angel’s Cappuccino and Ice Cream shop on the north side of the Bow River Pathway. Crossing the bridge takes you over the the Edworthy Park Picnic Area where they have all these beautiful rows of trees. Justine brought along a water proof picnic blanket and we brought a rustic brown blanket for the family to sit on. Nestled under the sweeping branched of the Edworthy evergreens we went to work photographing Logan and his parents.
