A Bright and Warm Family Session
The Campbell Session at Carburn Park
For the Campbell’s family session we headed out to the beautiful Carburn Park near the community of Riverbend in Calgary. The park on the Bow River reflects the wildlife ecosystems within the province of Alberta. Carburn Park features walking trails, boat rentals, a seasonal ice skating rink, and two tranquil man-made ponds.
We chose one of these gorgeous ponds for the backdrop of the Campbell Family session. The weather was absolutely amazing, and there were still plenty of autumn colours out among the trees to provide us with fall ambiance.
Manisha, Myles, their adorable son, and their family dog, all got settled in for a family shoot. We nestled them under an overhanging tree that hovered over the still water in the background. The session began with a full group shot of the four of them. Father and son were both dressed in matching plaid, which fit the cozy autumn theme to a tee.
We grabbed several playful shots of mother and son and father and son, before shooting some photos of the toddler by himself. We sat him on a fuzzy white blanket, on top of a bed of bright orange leaves. Next, we walked up one of the many beautiful walking trails and came across a patch of bare birch trees. We took a few more group shots and several more individuals of their son in the leaves, before heading back to the water’s edge. At end of the session, the sun hit the remaining leaves in the trees just right. The light created a bright myriad of green and gold highlights in the background. The last shots of the Campbell family have them looking peacefully out over the water, the warm sun at their backs.
