A Cute Cake Smash Session
The Portrait Session in the Brown’s Home
Right after little Abigail’s first birthday, we headed down to the Brown’s home for a Cake Smash Portrait session. Serge and Lisa were warm and welcoming and made us feel at home right away.
Abigail’s grandparents were visiting for the day, which gave us the opportunity to include them in the shoot. To start, we sat the whole family on the couch with little Abigail right in the center. We then took some individual shots of her with her parents before placing her in the arms of her smiling grandparents.
Abigail was all ready for the session. She was energetic and donning a fluffy pink dress. To help Abigail focus her attention on us, we grabbed a few of her toys and held them up behind the camera. It worked like a charm. We then showered her with a bunch of turquoise and purple balloons, prompting big smiles from her.
After crawling around in the balloons for a bit, we set the cake down in front of her. Lisa had created a beautiful little chocolate cake for the occasion, decorated with white and pink icing. Abigail was hesitant to destroy it, only touching it gently at first. It wasn’t until Lisa let her taste the sweet icing that she decided it was worth biting into. Abigail began by slowly eating the frosting until finally, she grabbed a piece of the cake. Even then she kept things dainty, grabbing only little pieces at a time and placing them into her mouth! By the end, the one-year-old had managed to make quite a dent in the cake. Through it all, her dress stayed impressively tidy.
We had a lovely day with the Brown family, and a lot of fun photographing Abigail.
