Raelynn’s Beautiful Newborn Session

After Mark and Natalie’s due date came and went, Natalie was induced on July 5th. Everything ran according to plan at first, but then the baby got stuck. After pushing for nearly 2 hours, the Ob-Gyns were called in, turning the quiet, dim room into a hive of activity. The baby was face up, so they spun her for delivery. Labour was long, but, through perseverance and the help of the fantastic team at the Foothills Hospital, little Raelynn Rose Ballak came into the world.
She was born at 8:26 pm, at 53 cm long and 8lb 2oz. After 9 hours of labour, everyone was happy and healthy. It wasn’t until baby Rae was placed on Natalie’s chest that she could finally relax.
She Looked Like a Baby Rae
The choice of name was a long discussion for Natalie and Mark. Early on, Natalie had suggested Raelynn, but Mark wasn’t sure about it, so they soon forgot it. Near the end of her pregnancy, Mark suggested it again, and this time, Natalie wasn’t entirely sure. They narrowed their choices down to a few and decided to wait until she was born to settle on the name. With her first breath, they decided she looked like a little baby Rae, and the rest is history!
Her big sister Ailey, who was born in 2014, was in love the moment they brought Raelynn home. She immediately gave her lots of hugs and kisses, and to cement her affection, Mark and Natalie told Ailey that Raelynn bought her a gift. Ailey ran to her room to find a teddy bear, a bright balloon, and a card. She was thrilled, and couldn’t wait to share her toys with her new little sister.
The Newborn Session at Our Studio
Natalie and Mark brought baby Rae into the studio for a newborn session with us. She was adorable and was the perfect little model. We began by swaddling her in a star blankie, then topped her with a cute turquoise flower headband. After a few wardrobe changes, we changed out the backdrop, from a soft white to a dark charcoal.
After all the tummy time on the soft backdrops, it was time for some photos with props. We set a nest on the wooden floor against a wooden backdrop and set Raelynn inside, upon soft blankets. She slept peacefully while we photographed her, letting us grab a bunch of different shots and angles.
To round out the shoot, we brought Mark and Natalie in for mom and dad shots. They took turns holding baby Rae, giving her tender hugs and kisses. We finished the session with a silhouette shot of the couple holding their new little girl.
We had a wonderful day with Natalie and Mark, and offer our congratulations on the birth of their adorable daughter.
